Earth to Ash: Ireland
Kelly Williams connects with the land and history of Ireland by using materials like peat ash and holy water, collected during her residency. She harnesses fire and sunlight in her encaustic techniques to echo the forces of weather and time, creating textured, layered, and luminous pieces. The gold elements in her work highlight the preciousness of these resources and the need to preserve them.
St. Johns Art Walk Pop-Up
A sneak peek at a select group of North Portland Open Studio artists will be set up to share their work Friday evening and Saturday at the St. Johns art walk right behind Weird Sisters Yarn/Two Rivers Bookstore! RSVP for the hosted wine bar @ RSVP Link
I will be previewing my newest work created from materials I brought back from Ireland including new materials such as peat ash, turf dust, and holy water from St. Brigid’s well. I have combined these with carbon based media, gold leaf and encaustic! Add a bit of FIRE and a whole new series has been launched.
With a special thanks to the Regional Arts and Culture Council for the Arts3C - Creation, Cultivation & Community Grant that helped support this residency and cultural and community experience. And to R&F handmade paints for the materials support.
I will also have a selection of Erotic saints, and some of my smaller pieces at special prices to clear a bit of room for all the new work in my studio!
Olive Stack Ireland Residency: Exhibition
After a full month of inspiration and creative exploration I will be sharing a selection of work I have created during my time here at Olive Stack Gallery Residency in Listowel, Ireland. Come and see what little treasures I have made and stay to learn about the process and influences that came from my explorations and experiments.
A special thank you goes to The Regional Arts and Culture Council for their support of this project through the Arts3C Grant: Creation, Cultivation and Community and to R&F Handmade Paints for their generous materials support.
